Colorado - Two Years :)
Zac and I decided to take a road trip for our 2 year anniversary. I grew up in Colorado and Zac's grandparents lived in the town next to where I grew up so he used to visit every year. I hadnt been back to where I grew up in 21 years and Zac hadnt been back in about 4 so we figured...why not.
I had never been to the Grand Canyon so we drove up to the Grand Canyon and then spent the night in Flagstaff. The Grand Canyon is gorgeous and worth the drive. There was a ton of people visiting so we didnt stay long....but it was worth every minute!
As we were driving down the road from the Grand Canyon we saw an airplane museum so we stopped to check it out. We both enjoy going to see air shows/historical museums etc so it was perfect and only $6 to get in...even better!

After Flagstaff we drove 7 hours to Grand Junction and then drove the 10 minutes to my hometown. To give you an idea of how small the town is where I grew up..this is the Main street where the bakery, store, restuarant, dentist, insurance agent and other odds and ends are located. This is why when I was in utter culture shock when we moved to Mesa. I was used to the simple life and then we moved to crazy life!
My mom is gonna kill me for this one but this is the house I grew up in. I still remember when we put in the baywindow. It looked better 21 years ago... I promise!!!
The next day we drove to Rifle to visit Zac's aunt and unlce. They took us to Rifle falls and it was beautiful :)
Then we went to the fish hatchery and fed the fish. Stinky stinky stinky but it was cool to watch the fish attack the food.

After the fish hatchery we drove in a flash flood and that was kinda scary especially when rocks from the cliffs started falling on the car. We made it through...thank goodness!!
The next day we drove to the Grand Mesa and this is a spectacular view of what it looks like from top.
This lake was beautiful. The water was blue and the flowers were blooming. I forgot how beautiful Colorado is!
On the way back from the Grand Mesa, Zac was driving and asked me what the light meant in the dashboard. I said I dont know and then proceeded to look for our owners manual, which wasnt in the glove compartment. Just then we felt a bump and realized our tire was flat. So we pulled over and changed it.
Here is my cute hubby changing the tire. He did it really fast too. I was impressed. We drove for about 40 miles to the local Wal-Mart to get the tire patched. Im sooo glad we were able to get it patched and not have to buy new tires. That was a blessing :)
Later that day we drove up to the Monument and again it was beautiful scenery! My parents took us to the Grand Mesa and the Monument when were kids so it was nice to go back and to see it all again...I will remember it much more now.
We had a really good time in Colorado. What is funny is that I spent the first 10 years of my life living in a small town and every year up until about 4 years ago Zac would visit his grandparents in the next town over about 10 minutes away. I remember meeting Zac in 7th grade and telling him where I was from and he freaking out cuz he knew where it was etc. Its a small world! Zac and I have decided that we when we get older or retire....to Colorado we will go!!!
